How to Cancel a Free Trial Before You Are Charged
Cancel inside the account you created on the company's own website, and do it the day you sign up rather than the day the trial ends. Keep the confirmation email and screenshot, because that is the evidence you need if a charge appears anyway.
Have this ready
- The signup email or receipt showing the trial end date
- Access to the account and the email address used
- The card or payment method used at signup
Step by step
- 1Find the signup email and note the company name, the plan and the exact trial end date.
- 2Sign in on the company's website in a browser, not through a mobile app, and open the billing or plan section.
- 3Choose cancel or end plan; decline any offer that pauses billing instead of cancelling it.
- 4If you subscribed inside the App Store or Google Play, cancel under the store's own subscriptions screen instead.
- 5Screenshot the confirmation page and keep the confirmation email with the date and the card's last four digits.
- 6If no cancel button exists, email support before the trial ends and ask for written confirmation.
- 7Check your card statement on the day the trial ends and dispute the charge if a confirmed cancellation was ignored.
Want it done with you?
I can walk you through it in a Magic Box, show you the exact clicks, or do it with you and keep the recording. You log in yourself; I never see your password.
Common questions
Does deleting the app cancel the subscription?+
No. Deleting an app leaves the store subscription and the billing agreement active. Cancel in the account or store subscriptions screen.
Can I cancel after the trial has already charged me?+
Yes, cancel immediately and then ask for a refund in writing. Many companies refund a first accidental charge, and your bank or card issuer can open a dispute if they refuse.
Is a paused plan the same as cancelling?+
No. A pause keeps the agreement alive and billing usually resumes on a set date. Ask for cancellation in writing.
